New Pup = No Peace!

Since Red and Bird are both pushing 12, and since the last pup I had was Annie the Akita and I can't even remember how long ago that was, I had truly forgotten how exhausting a puppy can be! This one is into everything. There used to be a foam bed in every room for the old Red dog to rest his achy bones, however since Towney really enjoys shredding foam, there is not a one left. Red now naps on the bare floor. I have a little crate under my chair and that is where Bird hides when she wants to escape. Bird has also started coming to work with me every day, just to get some peace and quiet. She rides on the scooter with me. I zip her up into a little suitcase and she rides on the foot rest between my feet. Then her bag becomes her bed, here she is hard at work!

Towney also likes to bring you presents in bed, I often wake up to with a coconut or an old lawn tractor tire or a deflated volley ball, these are all her favorite toys. I always get her a bag of toys when I go to Darwin and she loves them or loves to destroy them. Her tire is one of her favorites and I think that may be indestructible, at least for a while. I tied it in the tree when I tired of playing tug of war with her.

In between riotous moments, she likes to have a rest in her chair.

She is very exuberant, I think Red and Bird used to be that way too, but it is hard to remember. They still enjoy their walks, but just not to the degree that the Town dog does. Everything we pass needs to be examined.

They do have their quiet moments, but they are few and far between.

Here are pictures of her grandmother, then her mom, then the Town dog herself. They all were born at the town camp, Granny is long gone, they don't have the greatest life expectancy there. Her mom just had another litter and still comes to the plaza for a feed when she gets hungry. I imagine it won't be too long before the pups are following her. It is a hard life.

It's that time of the year again, September 13th is the date. Here is the poster I did for this year

New Pig in the Neighborhood

Life has become very exciting for the dogs here of late! A piglet has moved into the neighborhood and it thinks it is a dog! It has a lab puppy and a chihuahua for mates and they are always out exploring. Red rather likes the little piglet, he wants to play and be friends, Towney gets so excited, she is not sure what to do and Bird, as always, is pretty disdainful of the whole thing. It is funny to see the lab and this little black piglet come up the street and into the yard for a visit. Here are some pics so you can see too.
