Sunday Morning Ride

It was a picture perfect Sunday morning in the dry, temp high 80's, beautiful breeze so we went 4 wheeling. We found a great dirt track and ended up at the top end of the Magela, totally deserted spot so we took the dogs for a walk. They loved it, so many new and exciting smells, lots of dingo and wallaby tracks. It is so tempting to have a wade in the crystal clear waters but as we know the crocs are never too far away! Here are the kids in the jeep, note the top is off and the shade cloth cover is on, it will stay like this until November or December when the rains come again.

This is the lazy ole Red Dog relaxing.

Isn't this an idyllic spot, you can see why having a wade is so tempting!

We came upon a field of lily pads, they are so beautiful and good bush tucker too!

Best Bird Pics of the Week

I love to feed the kites, they come to visit and sit on the dead tree in the back yard. Originally there were 2 Whisting Kites who came twice a day every day, but word must be getting around because now there are a group of wedge tails who come too. They are amazing fliers, wheel and dive, put on a real air show every day. They are good catchers too, if I throw the scraps up in the air, they can change direction and whip around to grap the food in mid air. I love this photo.

Black Cockatoos are BIG birds but pretty nondescript on the ground. But when they take off and you see the brilliant splash of scarlet on their tails, it is spectacular. Here is a group of them dining on some seeds, must have been good tucker because usually they are a bit skittish and take off immediately, this time they waited while I circled them and luckily caught the red tail as the one took off.
