Near Death Experience at Cahill's Crossing

I can't imagine these guys tried to cross when the tide is that high with no 4x4 and no snorkel. This is the same spot that we are fishing in the entry prior to this. When the tide is right you can walk across it, no worries, when the tide is high, not only do you have to worry about the depth but the current can sweep a lighter vehicle right off the roadway. These guys were lucky they became stuck on the rocks! Here is a photo of the coppers in the paddy wagon crossing at a lower tide.

Fishing Trip with Joel

We went fishing while Joel was visiting, we didn't catch any but it was a great day for croc watching, I never saw so many! Some say they are increasing in numbers because there hasn't been a cull in over 25 years, they are a protected species. Joel almost got to know this one better than he really cared to when we hopped out of the boat to fish the crossing.

This is a little kingfisher bird on the lookout for a snack.

Check out the front teeth on this one! Came up right beside the boat, I was getting a little nervous. Just kidding, it wasn't that close, my new camera has a 10x zoom and I love it!
