Yuk the cane toads are getting bigger and bigger!

The cane toad is a huge menace here in Australia, having all sorts of deleterious effects. I just read that the croc population is increasing because the goanas who usually eat a large percentage of the croc eggs have been so killed off from ingesting these poisonous toads. You can read more about the problem at this site:

and this is a photo of Daniel with one of the monsters he caught. Well I cannot tell a lie, my mate Pat Carrick did a little photoshoperization on this one so the toad appears "slightly" larger than life!

The Little Honey Eaters

Every afternoon the honey eaters show up to have a munch on the blossoms of the big yellow flowers on the yellow flower bush and then have a dip in the bird bath. There are some that have a yellow body and blue and black stripes on their faces. There is a large and a miniature variety of both. They are pretty little birds and have a lovely song.

Birds in the Treetops

This is a big ole ibis in the dead tree where the kites usually sit. They make the funniest noise, reminds me of the way Tony Randall as Felix in the Odd Couple used to "honk" because of his sinus woes!

Different tree, different bird! This is a darter or a snake bird so called because their neck looks like a snake, especially in the water. They are great swimmers, this one was just ready to dive in and catch brekky.

Last but not least is the cormorant, another great swimmer sitting in the sun waiting for brekky to swim by.
